Pertussis (Whooping Cough)

On June 23rd, 2010,  California State Public Health officials declared an epidemic of PERTUSSIS, noting a 4-fold increase in the number of reported cases to date in 2010 compared to 2009, including 5 fatal cases involving infants.

The Hancock County Health Dept continues to urge CAREGIVERS (up to 64 years of age) of INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN to get the Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis) vaccine as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). 

It is especially important to make sure that your child’s vaccinations are up to date.

Tdap vaccine is offered FREE of charge at the Health Dept on Wednesday’s from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm.  (appointments not needed).
