H1N1 information


The Hancock County Health Dept. would like to make the community aware of our ongoing efforts to provide FREE H1N1 vaccination.

Anyone wishing to have an H1N1 vaccine, regardless of age, health or residence, is welcome to visit the Hancock County Health Dept on ANY Friday  between the hours of 9-11 am AND 1-3 pm.

THERE IS NO CHARGE ASSOCIATED WITH ANY H1N1 VACCINE GIVEN THROUGH THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT.


 The Hancock Co. Health Dept. would like to make residents aware of the fact that regular H1N1 testing is NOT being done on every case.  The H1N1 virus is still circulating and you are urged to get vaccinated to protect yourself, and to help protect anyone you are in contact with as well. 

We have seen somewhat of an increase of Influenza-Like Illness in our county.  

To date we have no lab confirmed deaths associated with H1N1 influenza in Hancock County.

We would like to stress the importance of staying home from school, work and other activities if you present with flu-like symptoms.  It is recommended to stay home for 24 hours after your fever has resolved

The Health Dept. is reminding the community to continue to WASH YOUR HANDS frequently and to cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing and dispose of used tissues properly. 

Seasonal flu vaccination is strongly encouraged as well.  Anyone can walk in for a seasonal flu vaccine at the Hancock County Health Dept on Fridays between 9-11am and 1-3 pm while supplies last.  Children may also get their seasonal flu vaccine on Wednesday s between 9-11 am and 1-3 pm..walk in as supplies are available.  Seasonal flu vaccine is free for childen 18 years and younger.  Those over 18 years are asked to give a a 20 dollar donation or provide medicare billing information.
