The WV Department of Health is providing residents with free Radon Test Kits to help ensure the safety of their homes.
Naturally released from rocks, soil, and water, radon can get trapped inside homes and buildings and eventually begin to build up in the air.
Breathing in high levels of radon over time can cause serious health issues and even lung cancer. The US Surgeon General recommends that ALL homes be tested for radon gas.
The Office of Environmental Health Servicesโ radon program monitors levels across the state, reporting results on the Public Radon Dashboard.
Short-term kits measure radon for 2โ90 days for quick results. Place the device on the lowest level. Follow mailing instructions in the kit to get the results once testing is complete.
Residents are urged to request a free radon testing kit by emailing [email protected] or by calling 304-352-5039.
